Is fishing nearby?

Yes. At the bottom of the hill, and across Georgia highway 60 is the Toccoa River. There are two Toccoa Rivers in Georgia. This one runs from Suches to Lake Blue Ridge. It is one of the few rivers in Georgia that is stocked with trout year-round. The fish hatchery is about ten miles north of the cabin. (A fun place to visit during weekday business hours.) Locals watch for the truck from the hatchery to go by, then hit the river. In addition to trout, some have pulled bass from the river. Some nice fishing spots are by the river about two miles south on highway 60. Fishing licenses can be purchased at Cooper Creek Store, one mile north on highway 60. Bring your own tackle, we don't keep rods and reels at Deerview Cabin.

Can we see the mountains from Deerview Cabin?

Depends on the season. The trees in front of the cabin have grown since we bought it and now obscure the view of the opposing hills when their leaves are on. Fortunately, they're mostly hardwoods, so as fall progresses you get a better and better view from the porch.

How much land is the cabin on? Will we bump into neighbors?

See the plat. Deerview Cabin is on about two acres, mostly in front of the cabin. The lot goes down to the curving drive. (On the plat, the cabin is the square in the upper-right). Looking out the front of the cabin, you see no other cabins/houses. We rarely close the curtains on the master bedroom. Feel free to roam the lot, we've tried to clear it out enough to enjoy.

What's The Weather Like? Will it Snow?

Will it snow? Probably not. We get about two good snows per year, and a few more dustings. To see the current weather see the Weather Underground page for Suches. Probably the closest to the actual conditions would be the link to the weather at Buzzard Roost Ridge in Blairsville in the bottom section of the page.
